Sheila Smith works as a director of photography and Steadicam operator, working on many independent features, commercials, documentaries, television shows, sporting events and dance and music videos. She owns a Sony F5 package, as well as Steadicam, lighting and grip equipment. Her many clients include WETA , PBS, BBC, NBC, Discovery Network, etc.
She’s operated Steadicam in the Obama White House for BET and worked as DP on documentaries about Snowden for GTV, Aids Quilt for Red Threads productions and national spots for GMMB and AARP. She films dance videos and performances in addition to promos for NBC4 which won her a local Emmy in 2017. In 2009 Sheila won the Women of Vision award from WIFV-DC and in 2000 the Director of Photography/Film DC Peer Award.
